what is happening to my hp office jet 7310. always having scanning failure problem. only the printer is working properly. please i need some help

Sometimes the Underside of the platen glass can be cleaned, and the optics beneath the exposure lamp cover, and it will correct the problem. Sometimes the fluorescent exposure lamp goes bad. There were places on the internet who would sell the lamp, or even the entire assembly. It's been a long time since I looked.

The printer might not even be worth the effort, Hp Wants You To Buy A New Printer. . . . .
