My company has used a Xerox Phaser 8560 for the last 4 years and has been very satisfied -- no maintenance contract but all we ever do is change the toner! We are moving to a new level of activity now and need to upgrade to a faster multi-function machine. I'm looking at Ricoh and Xerox, specifically the 2 systems mentioned in the title. Prices are pretty close for a 60 mo lease.

Any recommendations on one vs the other? We will of course have a service contract. Is one more reliable than the other? Is service better for one vs the other?

Any and all comments welcome!
Thx
Sue

I personally would chose the Ricoh over a Xerox any day. What you really want to explore is the service organization's involved. A copier is only as good as the support you receive.

Thanks. I agree. My company is located south of SF in CA. I have a choice between buying a Ricoh from IKON locally or from a company located down in the LA area who has local service. I plan to speak with customers of both to try to get a sense of the quality of the support. The LA company sells the fact that we will not be tied to a specific service organization and that if we are dissatisfied, he has some options. Is this BS or is their truth to this? I believe if I buy from IKON, I'm locked into their service organization...

You can go ether way on this one. I'm not sure about IKON in the SF area but they are pretty good in the Memphis TN and North MS area. (Even though I am an ex IKONer.) Do your research. There are other option like Canon and Kyocera. IKON was bought-out by Ricoh so they are almost factory direct.
