HOMEVISIT, in Chantilly, VA, has improved their productivity with Duplo’s DC-745 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser. The high production digital finisher slits and cuts borders and prevents toner cracking with great speed and versatility, producing full-bleed finished pieces in a matter of minutes. “The DC-745 has eliminated approximately 5-7 hours of manual cutting per day,” says Steve Powers, supervisor at HomeVisit. “It’s used 5 days a week on almost every printed piece produced. The DC-745 has provided us with great savings in labor and production times so we can operate more efficiently.” All jobs are printed on their Xerox iGen4 EXP Press with the new oversized feeder enabling them to print sheets up to 26” in length. Alliance purchased the Fiery®-driven Jetrion 4830 to fit their industrial label printing needs, including the desire for quick turnaround and versioning, and already over half of their orders are from new customers seeking to take advantage of the unique materials and short-run capability.

Alliance Printing chose the Jetrion 4830 digital label printer after talking to customers and seeing trends moving towards increased versioning and shorter turns. Quality and speed were also key factors in the purchasing decision. "We recently had a customer that ordered runs of 190 different labels to ship to over 2,000 store locations of a national home improvement chain. We printed the entire job in less than 24 hours. That time would have been spent changing plates alone on flexo equipment," said Jeff Birmingham, owner of Alliance Printing. "It took us more time to package and ship the order than to print it!"

Categories of Server Drives

At HP, we have refined and expanded our drive family to three distinct categories: Entry, Midline, and Enterprise. These categories meet the needs of different environments for performance, reliability, and cost/capacity. Table 1 lists characteristics of these categories.

HP Entry drives have the lowest unit cost and give you a basic level of reliability and performance. They are best suited for non-mission-critical environments where I/O workloads are 40 percent or less. They are typically best suited for internal/archival storage or as boot drives for entry-level servers. Entry drives are  only available with a Serial ATA (SATA) interface.

HP Midline drives give you larger capacity and greater reliability than Entry drives. Midline drives are more resistant to rotational and operational vibration, so they are better suited for use in multi-drive configurations. Midline drives are available with both SATA and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interfaces.

HP Midline drives are for high-capacity applications such as external storage that may require increased reliability. Like Entry drives, however, Midline drives are for use in moderate workload environments. We do not recommend Entry or Midline drives for mission-critical applications.

The Opportunity

Client Or User Based Forms

One of the easiest ways to improve the processing of information is by creating a user form. This form can be as simple as a Microsoft Word document that allows for a user to add text to the form and as advanced as a Microsoft Excel or Adobe Acrobat form that can aggregate the data and submit it into your workflow for you. The hallmark of a client or user based form is that it is driven by the user of the form. In most cases, it increases the efficiency of the user simply by preventing the need to print, complete and then scan or fax that form.
