Do you feel updated yet?

This has been one of the more interesting updates. With the new platform and again new introductions into that sysetm I have been seen another learning curve I had not seen before.

The new skinning system being more integrated into the code is nice. While it has provided a few interesting problems in the last week while I have been testing it I have learned a great deal on the operation and syntax for our roll out next week and then the new feature roll out the following week.

After a closer look at the new Beta syntax, logic and platform it does get easier to notice where the css and htm all fit in to make the page a whole again rather than the separate parts. With html5 on the horizon I am again looking forward to learning a new way or transition to object oriented programming rather than a myriad of patches and plug-ins.

Anyway...... why on a live board?

How else can I get a feel for how the software will act on the server. While the devs can see how it interacts with php5 or 4 and MYSQL server on their platform there are things installed on this server that are indeed unique to our install and that also needs to be tested. I / we can wait for the mad insane release at the first of the week or we can install and test the solution for a short while and discover exactly what we are up against and patch it prior to its final release.

I will submit my beta results to the devs but also wish to thank the members for their help in the process for their reports and encouragement.

Look for new additions in the future. Facebook connect, twitter connect, google open ID as well as other gateways should now allow people to join with ease. The new Mobile skin should allow technology that is new to the forum world to catch up with the real world. As we all get phones with more options and follow our lives ourside our small circle updates are only a few buttons away now. Profile comments and status updates should be easier to decipher. I still have some buttons to make / edit but the functions as some of you have noticed in the new notifications should make life easier on your email accounts or even provide faster updates through your email accounts as you desire rather than defined in the software package.

Great leaps have been made and continue to be made in the forum. This forum and well as many others must grow and expand our feature set to take advantage of user desires as well as technology in this ever increasing and expanding platform.
